Disadvantages of Online Tutoring
Students from the United States of America, United Kingdom and other countries, nowadays, can study online as well as in-person. Online tutoring is very beneficial but has certain disadvantages also. Some of the disadvantages are mentioned here. Connecting with the requirements of students becomes more difficult, which may result in some of the students doing badly in exams or lagging behind. Many students are in the habit of chatting with their friends on social media or playing games on their computer. These can act as serious hindrances in the path of their studies and distract them from learning online. Thus, online tutoring may not be useful in such cases and can lead to them focusing on other things under the guise of learning.
It requires a good internet connection and speed, microphone and web camera. Issues with any one of these may hamper the learning process of students ( regardless of whether or not they receive their lessons from a good tutor online ). So, it is essential to curb this menace by ensuring there are no such issues during the process of teaching. But there are still quite a few chances of them encountering technical difficulties and problems due to it. They need to be computer proficient and somebody with zero knowledge about the same can find online learning very tough. In today’s era, everyone knows how to use a computer. But the inability in doing so ( as in some rare cases ) can cause confusion and force them to switch towards face-to-face learning.
Online tutoring generally happens over Skype and being able to download the latter is a must. Without it ( Skype ), they would find it difficult to learn. Interaction between their teachers and parents is quite important to ensure they succeed. But with online tutoring, this communication does not take place or is very restricted. This makes them fearless and less competitive and decreases their scope for improvement.
